Meet Dr. Christensen
Dr. Christensen was drawn to the problem-solving aspects of orthodontics, as well as making people feel more confident with their smiles. He specializes in the latest orthodontic techniques for adolescents and adults, including early treatment, clear and traditional braces, clear aligners, and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Christensen will be using the most innovative orthodontic technology, including intraoral scanners and, in cases deemed necessary, cone beam computed tomography. He recognizes the importance of thorough communication to understand each patient’s needs and develop individual treatment plans to meet those needs. He considers this a cornerstone of his practice. Dr. Christensen understands that orthodontics is a significant investment and is committed to providing the best possible results for each patient.
Dr. Sam Christensen was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa where he completed his undergraduate degree while being a member of the University of Iowa Men’s Golf Team. He continued his education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He graduated near the top of his class and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.
Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Dr. Christensen went on to finish a two-year pediatric dentistry residency program at the University of Iowa. During his pediatric residency program, he discovered his passion for orthodontics. Following this dream, he completed a two-year orthodontic residency program through the University of Iowa. Dr. Christensen served as Chief Resident for both his pediatric dentistry and orthodontic residency programs. Dr. Christensen is a board-certified orthodontist, and he serves as a clinical faculty member in the department of orthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
Dr. Christensen lives in Ankeny with his wife, Natalie, and their son and daughter. Natalie works as a family nurse practitioner in the Des Moines area. In his free time, Dr. Christensen enjoys golfing, running, and attempting to help cook with his wife. The family is excited to be a part of the Ankeny community!
