Meet Dr. Smith
Dr. Nicholas Smith is passionate about creating beautiful, confident smiles that transform lives. His journey in orthodontics began as a high school senior with braces, when he experienced firsthand the impact of a confident smile. A proud native of central Iowa, Dr. Smith graduated from Newton Senior High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Wartburg College. He then pursued his dental education at the University of Iowa, where he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. To specialize in orthodontics, Dr. Smith completed a two-year residency at the University of Iowa, earning both a Master of Science and a Certificate in Orthodontics.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Smith remains committed to lifelong learning and the latest advancements in orthodontic technology and techniques. His goal is to provide each patient with the highest standards of personalized care in a state-of-the-art setting.
Dr. Smith opened Ankeny Orthodontics in 2011 and feels fortunate to have grown the practice alongside a talented team and an incredible patient community.
Residing in Ankeny with his wife, Julie—a pediatric dentist—and their two young daughters, Dr. Smith enjoys being part of this wonderful community. In his free time, he attends his daughters’ activities, enjoys travel, plays golf, and relaxes with the family’s energetic beagle, Riley. Dr. Smith and his family are proud to call Ankeny home.
